Flashback: First Lush Products

Let me begin by saying that I am so behind! I haven't posted anything for about a year. Talk about major procrastination!
My first trip to Lush was around November 2012. So let's talk about that gigantic adventure! Oh my goodness, they have such amazing products! When I first went, I was very disappointed by a lot of the scents that everyone raved about. However, my opinion on most of those products has most definitely changed. :)
*I cut my bubble bars a lot smaller than most people do, just because I want as much use as I can get out of each product. I'll talk about how I've been cutting them at the end of this post.*
I didn't like Lust and I still don't (I hate the scent of jasmine). The Godmother, Snow Fairy, Candy Mountain, The Comforter, Rose Jam, and Pink Bath Bomb- didn't originally care for- I smelled them every time I went in and now love these scents! I thought I'd be in love with Vanilla Fountain at first whiff, but I wasn't. Again, the more I returned, the more I liked it- I think they recently discontinued it though. Let's get on with what I did like and had the money to buy! :)

The very first thing I threw into my basket was A French Kiss bubble bar.

I broke the bubble bar in my ziplock before I took this picture (why a lot of the beautiful lavender is in the bag, not on the stem). But oh my goodness, it smells so fantastic! It's a fantastic mixture of lavender, rosemary, and thyme; it's sweet and floral but also a bit herbal. Each bar's color and scent vary little by little because each batch is handmade. :) With the amount of bar that I use, it just barely colors my bath water, I get just enough bubbles too. The scent lasts most of the time I'm in the bath.

The first of the bubbleroons that I was interested in was Yuzu and Cocoa. There are two other bubbleroons: Rose Jam and Green.

This one has an amazing cocoa and sort of tropical scent, it's nothing like that yucky fake chocolate smell. :) Oh my, this bubble bar is so moisturizing! Unfortunately, when the bubbles disappear, most of the scent does too, you practically have to stick your nose in the water in order to smell it.

As for shower gels, I wound up purchasing the limited edition Twilight.
I love this shower gel! It has a really deep purple color with quite a bit of super fine glitter. It smells a lot like French Kiss, but smells identical to the Twilight bath bomb when it's used. It's the great scent of lavender which they decided to pair with tonka; in my opinion it's slightly herbal with lots of lavender and delicious sweetness. I am in LOVE! I was sad to hear that it wasn't coming back in stores this year, but then they brought it back online for the Christmas season! :)

Cutting Bubble Bars
My reason for cutting bubble bars is to get the most use out the products- it's hard for me to justify spending $6 on a bubble bar that most only use in one or two baths, no matter how high quality the ingredients are. How many pieces you slice the bubble bar into depends upon how large it is. In addition, I get more bubbles by sticking a piece of bubble bar into a piece of cheesecloth or pantyhose. With pantyhose you can just tie the open end of the leg around the faucet. If you're using cheesecloth, you'll need to place the bar in the center, gather the edges to the center, and loop a rubber band around the ends, then over the faucet. To create even more bubbles, if you have a detachable shower head, you can take that down, turn it on the highest setting, and run that across the bath.
I get 6 uses out of French Kiss by using a top chunk, middle section, then splitting the bottom into 4. I get 8 uses from Yuzu and Cocoa. Typically people say that the bubbleroons give you two uses- not true. You can get so much more. Simply break it in half where the "filling" is, then each side into 4.
*Since a comb is generally what I have in my bathroom, I use that to slice my soaps and bubble bars. It does a decent job. :) You could also use a knife if you so wish.*
Since last November, I have been to Lush way too many times to count! Plus I've purchased many more products in the mean time. I promise I'm back on the blog for sure this time! I plan to go to Lush some time this week for a lot of their lovely Christmas products, so I will of course do a haul! There may also be a favorite Lush product post soon. :)
Stay Lushly, Annie
